A snowshoe in the moonlight
Many of our guests have a sporty spirit and love to make new experiences. It is no coincidence, after all, that they choose Lake Garda as their holiday destination: the lake has everything, for all tastes.
Beaches, baths and water sports in the summer, sailing throughout the year, walking, hiking, cycling, history and landscapes, nightlife. . . just take a look at the many proposals that populate our blog to realize in a moment that Lake Garda is a real gem of thousands. multifaceted, able to offer you exactly the experience you are looking for, even in low season.
During the coldest months, in fact, we have some of the most formidable and adventurous experiences, thanks to the presence of the giant that embraces and protects the Verona shore of Lake Garda: the massif of Monte Baldo.
And if in spring and summer it is really worth getting lost in the pastures looking for the wild orchids that only grow here, in the hortus europae (we will tell you in detail in one of the next articles), in winter Lake Garda is the ideal base to start and experience Monte Baldo and the whole territory of Lessinia, with its snow-covered expanses, shelters and unspoiled nature.
The beauty of this area is precisely in its purity and, let’s say, in the care and respect that the people of Verona have for it. And then it only takes a few kilometres to enter a quiet, white world, which really has nothing to envy to the countries of the North.
There are dozens of trails that can be easily tackled by everyone, families with children included, but we have a special tip: try the snowshoes, you will never want to go back.
For those who don’t know them, snowshoes are ancient tools originally used by mountain populations to move on the snow and carry out daily activities (hunting, collecting wood, moving) with ease.
Once they were made of flexible wood and rope, today they are made of technical materials, extremely light and at an affordable price. But we don’t want to talk about a new purchase, but about the amazing experience of nature around us, the silence, the snow and the white that surrounds you.
If you have never tried it, we recommend you to hire one of the many guides who organise group snowshoe excursions: they will provide you with the technical equipment and accompany you safely in a unique experience.
And that’s why, if you get the chance, we recommend something even more incredible and exciting: the snowshoeing in the moonlight. Imagine the sunset and then the night falling, the moon rising in the sky and the landscape illuminated by a magical, silvery light reflected by the snowy expanse.
Imagine the silence, the sound of snow under your feet and the feeling of total peace and serenity. A real magic!
The hike usually lasts a few hours (at most three hours, it’s cold at night!) and is suitable for everyone. And now tell us, how many surprises will we have to tell you to convince you that Lake Garda is truly a magical place?
